MCS certified installation
Grant funding available, MCS certified, and designed properly so your house is actually warm.
A heat pump takes heat out of the outside air and moves it into your house, and it carries on doing that when it is cold outside, because there is still heat in cold air to move.
The objection we hear most is that they do not work in winter. They do, but the reason people believe otherwise is worth understanding. A gas boiler blasts very hot water round the radiators in short bursts. A heat pump runs cooler water through bigger radiators for longer, so the house sits at a steady temperature rather than swinging up and down. Put a heat pump on radiators sized for boiler temperatures and the house will feel underwhelming, and the heat pump will get the blame. Size the radiators for the water temperature the heat pump is designed to run at and it will not.
Which leads to the second point, and it is the honest reason to care who installs it: the design matters more than the badge on the box. The heat loss survey, the radiator sizing, the flow temperature and the controls decide whether you are warm and whether the running cost makes sense. That is the part a certified installer is being paid for.

Which is what makes the installation eligible for grant funding, as well as being the standard the design is held to.
Every room measured and calculated, because a whole house rule of thumb is how systems end up undersized.
We check eligibility and deal with the application, rather than leaving you to work out the forms.
We tell you which radiators are fine, which need changing, and what the controls need to do.

Replacing a gas or oil boiler entirely, with the whole system designed around the new flow temperature.

For houses where the existing radiators are too small to give out enough heat at lower flow temperatures.

The hot water side, sized and set up for how the household actually uses it.
Tell us about the property and how it is heated now.
We carry out a room by room heat loss survey.
We design the system and confirm grant eligibility.
We install, commission and register with MCS.
We will not put a number on this page. A heat pump is priced off the heat loss of your particular house, and two houses on the same street can need very different systems depending on insulation, radiators and where the outdoor unit can sensibly go. The survey is what produces a real figure, and the grant is applied on top of it, so the number that matters is the one after both. All of that is in writing before you decide anything.
Yes, if it is designed for your house. A heat pump works by moving heat rather than burning fuel, and there is still heat in cold air for it to move, so low outdoor temperatures do not stop it working. What it does differently is run cooler water for longer instead of very hot water in short bursts, which means the radiators have to be big enough to give out the heat at that lower temperature. Get that right and the house sits at a steady temperature all winter. Get it wrong and the system will struggle, which is where most of the bad stories come from.
Usually not all of them. Some radiators are already big enough for the lower flow temperature, particularly in rooms that were generously done in the first place. The heat loss survey tells us room by room which ones will cope and which will not, and we change only those. If you would rather spread the work, the radiator changes can be phased.
Outside you need room for the unit against a wall or on a base, with clear air around it and somewhere sensible for the pipework to run. Inside, the main thing is space for a hot water cylinder, usually in an airing cupboard or a loft, because a heat pump does not heat water on demand the way a combi does. If your house has no obvious place for a cylinder we will tell you at survey rather than after.
There is government grant funding for air source heat pumps, and it is one of the reasons the numbers work for a lot of households. Eligibility depends on the property rather than on us, and both the amount and the rules change from time to time, so we would rather not print a figure here that might be out of date by the time you read it. We confirm the current amount and check whether your property qualifies as part of the survey, and we handle the application if it does. Grant funded installations have to be carried out by an MCS certified installer, which we are.
It makes a low fan and compressor noise when it is running, comparable to a fridge freezer heard from a few feet away, and it is quieter than most people expect. Where it goes matters more than the unit itself, so we site it away from bedroom windows and away from your neighbour boundary where the layout allows.
We survey first and tell you straight if it does not.
